#MONÉDUCATIONNOTREDROIT: AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AROUND ISSUES OF ACCESS TO FRENCH-LANGUAGE EDUCATION
Richmond, June 18, 2019 – On September 26 the Supreme Court of Canada will hear the appeal against the decision of the British Columbia Supreme Court on French-language education in that province. Today, the Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (CSF) and the Fédération des parents francophones de Colombie-Britannique are launching the campaign #MonéducationNotredroit (My education Our right) to create a national awareness movement around the right to French-language education in Canada.
Strongly supported by the CSF and the Fédération des parents, the case on French-language education in British Columbia has been ongoing for a number of years. The primary objective of the campaign #MonéducationNotredroit is to inform the public about some of the issues related to French-language education. Its ultimate goal is to raise the awareness of as many people as possible about minority Francophone education rights, both in British Columbia and throughout Canada.
As part of this campaign, the CSF and the Fédération des parents have worked with the comedy group Improtéine to produce an engaging video that describes the reality faced by Francophones in British Columbia: https://youtu.be/dMMPjQTotbY
